Authorities are investigating after evidence of human skeletal remains was found in the woods off David Drive in Saugus, Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office said.
An individual walking their dog discovered the remains in the area and notified police shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday, Tucker’s office said in a statement. The remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and to determine a cause and manner of death.
Saugus Police and State Police assigned to Tucker’s office are still actively investigating the discovery, but officials said there is “no known risk” to the public.
