Swampscott’s Kim Carrigan launching high-profile podcast

Kim Carrigan is adding to her media resume with the launch of her new podcast, “Carrigan & Company.”

The Missouri native was a Boston news mainstay for more than 30 years, working as an anchor for 7 News, WBZ, and Fox. She also has experience in radio as a morning host on WRKO.

She held her most recent position at Bloomberg News until last June. Not too long after, she began laying the groundwork for her own podcast.

Carrigan credits longtime friend Dave Thomson of Thomson Communications for partnering with her and making the podcast a reality as its executive producer.

“We had always talked about the idea of doing a project together, and we love this concept of a podcast,” Carrigan said. “We both have young people in our lives in their 20s, and their whole worlds are about podcasts.”

She acknowledged that the podcast medium allows for creative control and flexibility, and “Carrigan & Company’s” slated structure reflects that. Carrigan plans to have a different co-host join her each week, and each episode will be divided into three segments.

“During the first segment, Kim and her co-host will catch up and talk about a variety of interesting topics,” Thomson explained. “The second segment will be an interview with a newsmaker. The third segment will change with each episode, ranging from how-to tips from expert guests, nostalgia, health and wellness, and mystery guests.”

For the podcast’s pilot episode on Tuesday, Jan. 23, Carrigan will be joined by Boston comedian Lenny Clarke.

“I’ve known Lenny for years and he was kind enough to say, ‘I absolutely will come on and be your first co-host,” Carrigan said.

Carrigan was especially excited for the timing of Clarke’s appearance, as he is starring in NBC’s new show “Extended Family.”

While Carrigan wished to keep future co-hosts and guest appearances a secret, she alluded to having no shortage of interest from prominent community members.

“We’re booked through most of February,” Carrigan said. “We’ve got some really great people coming on with some really fun stories.”

“Carrigan & Company” will be livestreamed at the Big Night Live studio in Boston and then uploaded to all the major platforms in both video and audio formats.
